Osthugelland DDR German Shepherds is located 45 minutes west of Albany, in the rolling hills of historic Schoharie County, in beautiful upstate New York. 

German Shepherds are our passion, not profession. 
We are a small hobby breeder raising only a select few litters a year.  Our breeder program is not focused on "paper" or cosmetic features but most importantly on health, character and workability.
We believe laying a good foundation brings quality.

Specializing in European bloodlines (West working lines, DDR lines, and Czech lines), we train our dogs in off lead obedience, tracking, trailing, area search and detection.  Selected breeding dogs are always "a" stamped or radiographed for hip/elbow dysplasia. See the OFA, SV Hip Rating Comparison Chart.

 
Osthugelland German Shepherd puppies are always raised in the home with our children.  All Osthugelland puppies are examined by our D.V.M. and receive a health certificate prior to placement.  We provide guarantees on puppies for hip dysplasia.  We also provide incentives for  pups that become work certified or sport titled.  Occasionally, we donate trained working dogs to L.E. or S.A.R. organizations.  Please ask us what's available.  Our German Shepherds make wonderful, trusted, family companions.
